Who we are

Rigour & Reverie is run by Gayle Russell, trading as Rigour & Reverie, a sole trader based in England. For anything about your personal data, email hello@rigourandreverie.com or write to us at Rigour & Reverie, The Bristol Office, 2nd Floor, 5 High Street, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, BS9 3BY, England.

What we collect, and why

  • If you join the email list: your email address, your first name if you give it, the topics you choose, and records of when you signed up and confirmed. We use these to send you the emails you asked for. Our legal basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.
  • If you buy from us on this site: your name, email address, country, and order details. Payhip runs the checkout and delivers your download, and its payment processors handle your card or account details; we never see your full card number. We use this to deliver your order, help with it, and keep the records tax rules require. Our legal basis is our contract with you, and our legal obligation to keep tax records.
  • If you email us: your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it to reply and to help with your order. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you.
  • If you use the reply box on a journal post: your note, and your first name and email address if you give them. They come to us by email so we can read and answer you. Nothing is published or stored on the site, and we won’t share your note with anyone else without your explicit written consent. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you, and we keep these like any other email to us.
  • When you visit the site: we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. The site sets no cookies of its own.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your data. We use a few trusted services to run the site, the shop, and the list:

  • MailerLite stores the list and sends our emails.
  • Payhip runs our checkout and delivers downloads, with its payment processors handling payments.
  • Cloudflare hosts the site, provides the analytics, delivers reply-box notes, and forwards emails sent to our addresses.
  • Google (Gmail) is where those forwarded emails arrive.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK, including in the US. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the UK’s approved safeguards, such as the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

How long we keep it

  • List members: until you unsubscribe. We then keep only your email address on a suppression list, so we never email you again by mistake.
  • Emails to us: up to two years after our last exchange, unless they relate to an order, when accounting rules may require longer.
  • Orders: as long as UK tax rules require us to keep business records, usually about six years.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to limit or object to how we use it. You can also ask for a copy to take elsewhere. Email hello@rigourandreverie.com. We’ll reply within one month.

Complaints

If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
